Destructive Typhoon Approaches Vietnam Following Claiming at Least 114 Fatalities in Philippines
Before making landfall in Vietnam, the storm system caused widespread destruction in the Philippines - with no fewer than 114 lives lost.
Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has announced a state of calamity - which is triggered by numerous deaths, extensive property destruction, and halt to economic activities and everyday existence for residents of impacted regions.
The typhoon, known locally as Tino, devastated the populous island of Cebu, flooding complete communities and carrying vehicles down roads.
Many thousands of people have been evacuated, while some are sheltering in emergency shelters.
