England Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's most recent Test match for New Zealand was versus the English side in the final month of 2024.
England bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in Australia.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is only likely to be available for the opening match because of his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the UAE.
Southee, aged 36, took up a position as England's fast bowling consultant in the warmer months after taking 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Commenting as England's team for the first of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, he stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.
"We will determine the outcome over the next little while."
England bowling legend Stuart Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the series, which begins on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," Southee remarked.
"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. I think the caliber of [England's] side that's going out to Australia is brilliant.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to the English team travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
