Loyal supporters of the actress are urging that a man who jumped a barricade and touched the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past media personnel and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a promenade surrounded by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the event by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being arrested", though legal records indicated that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram account features clips of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is evidently a legal violation," commented an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user remarked.
Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote another response on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted security officers at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested digital services to ban Mr Wen's videos.
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-part version of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which focuses on the surprising friendship between two distinct witches.
The show itself is a spin-off of the 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of last year in the UK, and earned 10 award recognitions, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
