Selecting the Three Gunners Assets to Choose v Wolves? FPL Team of the Gameweek

The big decision in this Fantasy Premier League squad of the week is to select no City assets - indeed, that includes Haaland!

Our budget is required to go all-in on Gunners players as they welcome among the most struggling teams in English top-flight history.

Yes, City scored in 5 goals on their most recent away fixture, but now they meet Crystal Palace, who have the second-strongest defence in the division for goals allowed and fourth-best in terms of xGC.

And the Gunners home to Wolverhampton is the kind of encounter you just have to exploit - the leading team in the league against one devoid of form, technical ability and self-belief.

The lineup of the week is selected using current FPL valuations to fit within a £100m budget, as if you were playing a Free Hit chip.

How did The Previous Lineup Do?

No captain return but high scores from Bruno Fernandes (eighteen), Dias (14), Foden (12) and James Tarkowski (9), along with a lucky sixteen-point Dewsbury-Hall bench cameo produced a huge 83 points. Boom!

FPL Lineup of the Week for Gameweek 16

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Robin Roefs, Sunderland, goalkeeper, £4.7m - Newcastle (h)

The first Tyne-Wear derby in the Premier League for eight years is likely to be loud, passionate, combative - and it may prove to be one of those tight matches that is full of tension but minimal clear chances.

Which would make Roefs, ranked third in the FPL goalkeeper standings, a good shout.

White, the Gunners, £5.2m - Wolves (h)

An Arsenal defensive asset is a must this week. Wolverhampton have just one goal scored away from home so far and a single goal in their past six fixtures.

White is a great offensive threat when he is given his opportunity. He started the past two games at right-back, registered a 14-point haul against Brentford and leads the way in that period among Gunners defenders with 2 key passes, 2 attempts inside the area and an expected goal involvement of 0.7.

Cucurella, the Blues, £6.2m - Everton (h)

Everton are erratic so this selection is more about Chelseadefence and the Spaniard's potential.

Chelsea have the fourth-best defensive record while he has created more chances (nineteen) than any other defensive player in the division.

And he is yet to score yet, having netted five times last season.

Diogo Dalot, United, £4.4m - Bournemouth (home)

You can't have high expectations for a Manchester United clean sheet - they have just one all season - but Bournemouthscoring have dried up in the past two matches.

More importantly, the Portuguese defender has been getting in some very attacking positions as a wing-back in the past three fixtures.

During that spell he's taken 4 attempts, 2 big chances, one goal and an assist. He also missed a great chance at Wolves on Monday as well.

Midfield

Bukayo Saka (captain), Arsenal, £10.2m - Wolverhampton (home)

This fixture against Wolves is too juicy to ignore and that makes Saka, the Gunners'best attacking player a must-have.

Little statistical analysis needed to back this up. United had 27 shots at Wolves on Monday, scored four and could have had double that.

Arsenal will be rubbing their hands.

Declan Rice, Arsenal, £7.1m - Wolves (home)

Just a single point behind Fernandes in the midfield scoring list, Declan Rice is so reliable for Arsenal.

More advanced this term, he's created more chances than any Gunners player (27) and has five assists to show for it.

He's also the most reliable for game time as Mikel Arteta could see this fixture as a opportunity to rotate his players.

Fernandes, Manchester United, £9m - the Cherries (h)

The Portuguese playmaker may have taken over from Antoine Semenyo as the must-own Fantasy Premier League midfielder.

Match-up proof, consistently a shout for defensive contribution points and with multiple ways to points.

Palmer, the Blues, £10.3m - Everton (home)

This week's punt, Cole Palmer has his first full ninety minutes under his belt after a long injury and we are aware what an explosive fantasy player he can be.

You sense that, as quickly as he has one good game, FPL managers will be rushing to bring him in.

He missed the Blues'European defeat at Atalanta, but that was the team managing his minutes so he should be fresh for Everton.

Dango Ouattara, the Bees, £6m - Leeds (h)

Leeds United enter this match off the back of two strong home performances against Chelsea and Liverpool, but away from home they have let in three times for each one they've netted.

This is probably Ouattara last match before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.

He's been superb for the Bees this term, and has 5 attacking returns in his last 3 home matches.

Attack

Igor Thiago, the Bees, £6.9m - Leeds (h)

It's been a disappointing couple of gameweeks for the striker FPL managers, with just 3 FPL points in two matches.

Nevertheless, he's the second-highest goal scorer in the league and has 7 goals in seven fixtures at home. He is the prime forward option this week and, with a favourable fixture list, you can select and hold until the end of January at least.

Hugo Ekitike, the Reds, £8.4m - Brighton (home)

It is expected that the manager continues to start with the promising Frenchman, after his brace haul at Leeds.

He performed well at the start of the campaign and you can't help but think what he could have achieved had a rival striker not been signed and competed with him for playing time at centre-forward.
