A Meteoric Rise From The Academy

This talent is the latest to emerge from the famed youth system and is quickly establishing himself as one of Alvaro Arbeloa's most promising young players.

He joined Real from CD Leganes in the summer of 2023, having formerly spent time at Atletico Madrid and Getafe's youth teams, and initially featuring for the under-19 side, where he quickly made a positive impact.

Pitarch progressed to the B team and it was during a pre-season game in which they played against the senior squad, then coached by the former defender, where the youngster is said to have drawn the eye of the current Real boss, who replaced the previous coach in January.

Spanish media would later label the moment as "an instant connection," adding he stood out not only for his technical ability, but for the energy, personality and determination he added to the team.

'His Best Attribute Remains His Character'

In the summer of 2025, ex-manager Alonso called up the youngster to practice with the first team and awarded him playing time during the warm-up matches.

Yet, it was Arbeloa's appointment that proved the turning point in his development as he came on as a second-half replacement in both ties against the Portuguese side that set up the meeting with Pep Guardiola's team.

"I've dreamed of this each night before going to bed, the very first time I started playing the game, every day you head to training and every day you play a match," said Pitarch following his debut.

"I have just fulfilled my dream with the greatest club in the planet and in the best competition."

Pitarch has taken it with performances that have belied his youth and inexperience.

"He is a extremely fast player, and you can see his capabilities," said Arbeloa. "He is extremely energetic, with great stamina, effort and movement."

The player's mindset has also impressed his coach.

"His standout trait is his character," added Arbeloa. "He constantly demands the possession, and when pressed, he doesn't feel it.

"I realize people are astonished to watch him start in a European fixture, but he's playing because I had complete confidence in him to do his normal game.

"Thiago will continue to get chances with the main squad. It is delightful to coach a talent like him."

A Future International Decision

Eyes on the Prize

At present, Pitarch's focus is on establishing himself in the Real side and rewarding his manager's belief.

His substitution by fellow youth graduate in Angel to emphasise the coach's confidence in younger players to help the club pursue trophies to come.

Following his notable contributions to date on the Champions League, Pitarch is tipped to be a central figure in that.

"Arbeloa treats me the same. We handle it very naturally. I try not to overanalyze it excessively - I must earn my minutes on the pitch," he said following the win at Etihad Stadium.
